+++ MIGRATIONSMASCHINE 26.10., Augsburg +++

October 30, 2011 is the 50th anniversary of the Recruitment Agreement between Germany and Turkey, which basically aimed at the temporary employment of Turkish guest workers in Germany, thereby starting Turkish immigration. This is the background of the film concert MIGRATIONSMASCHINE, homage to and a requiem for the textile industry of Augsburg/Germany presented by shortfilmlivemusic and the MEHR MUSIK! ensemble. After heavy machines, it is the second project that unites the two ensembles in front of the stunning scenery of the Textile and Industry Museum Augsburg.

Emphasizing the guest workers’ fate, the live-scored film collage contains material from the museum’s film archive: Teaching films, instruction videos, documentaries and time witness reports combined by media artist Benjamin Schindler to an 60-mins. piece of artistic film. The new collage contains personal recordings of some of the workers and interviews with first generation guest workers. The music draws an arc from versatile new compositions and structured improvisations originally created by the shortfilmlivemusic ensemble for heavy machines via Turkish folklore to German and Turkish schlager songs about the life of guest workers in Germany.

shortfilmlivemusic - new short films meet experimental music. Since 2005 this project makes a name for itself. Here recent short films meet experimental young musicians. Inspired only by the images the musicians create a new sound track, exciting and unheard of. Film and music fuse into a total piece of art. The music reaches from Ambient and Drum'n'bass to Free Jazz, Noise and Vocal Acrobatics.

shortfilmlivemusic is a unique film concert experience. Both, short film and experimental music get a chance to enthuse new target groups. In cooporation with the German Short Film Association (AG Kurzfilm), shortfilmlicemusic is offered to film and music festivals as event. We are glad to present you our project on these web pages.
